After years of research we came to the conclusion that there are still many children who need support. We want to give these children a chance and a home too, so we decided to build a new orphanage. Every child is very welcome at the new orphanage, regardless of their religious background. The new orphanage is based in Torajaland between the amazing top attractions of Londa and Kete Kesu. The orphanage is located in a low traffic area, so the children can grow up safely. The schools are just a few minute walk from the orphanage. The orphanage has room for 16 children. There are two bedrooms where the boys sleep separately from the girls. There are separate bedrooms for one employee and the volunteers. These bedrooms have separate bathrooms with a western style toilet and running freshwater. The orphanage will be supplied with good facilities- so the children don’t have to work but can enjoy their youth. This is what they deserve and what we want to offer them. We are 100% against child labor, that’s why you will not see the children playing any bamboo music for western tourists! But you’re very welcome to drink a cup of tea or coffee of course! Local employees will be hired for tasks such as: cleaning, cooking, washing, maintenance, administration and security. The staff will be thoroughly screened before hiring. One of the female employees will stay intern, so the children have one “mum” at their house. Next to the orphanage we want to create a small vegetable and fruit garden, were we can grow a part of our daily veggies and fruit and save some money. Our next activity is installing several water tanks, water pumps and placing floor tiles on the main floor. After this we have to save for the fitting out the orphanage which also costs a lot of money. The orphanage will be operational after we have finished fitting out and the installation of an alarm system. Our main goal is to open the orphanage in 2009.
